Weak Greek

Restaurant: Joe Fetas
Country of Origin: Greece

How was it?

The hype was bigger than the taste.

Going into Joe Fetas, I had heard many great things, and in return I expected great things.

From a 4.5/5 star average review on Google, to being featured on a National TV show, Joe Fetas has a reputation for being incredible.

There was nothing inherently wrong with Joe Fetas but it wasn't the fanatic, phenomenal, last meal on death row, dinner I was expecting.

It's possible I decided to eat at the wrong time, or that the chef was drinking ouzo before I got there, but the food wasn't as delicious as promised

The restaurant itself was nice.
Completely decorated in Greek decor, featuring large Greek columns, illustrations, and barrels Joe Fetas had an authentic greek feel.

The restaurant has a large dining room with an even larger set of windows.

Unfortunately, in a Canadian winter, large windows mean low temperatures, and it could easily be felt.
It got to the point that I had to politely ask to be moved further from the window after I noticed my friend shivering while wearing a coat.

On a positive note, service was great; very quick and caring.
Ordering to eating took less than 15 minutes.
Portions were a decent and filling size.
I was brought a salad and bread before my food even arrived.

Overall I could tell this was a good restaurant, I think I may have just come on an off day.

I will give this restaurant a second try, and you should give it a first.

  1. I really like Greek Food, but I could have told you to avoid Joe Feta's ....not good as far as I am concerned. And by the way, the Ouzo drinking on the job is a common thing there. But to be fair, it is not the wait staff that is to blame, they can only do the best they can with subpar food and cooks.

  3. I live right around the corner from Joe Feta's and its my go to place whenever I want greek food. I can't really comment on the menu because I have got the same thing every time I go there. Their souvlaki is the best that I have ever had! Glad to hear you'll be giving it a sceond chance.

  4. I love Greek food and have always wanted to try Joe Feta's, especially because I've heard so many good things about it. There is an awesome Greek restaurant in Niagara Falls, and if you haven't tried it yet I highly recommend it. It's called Koutouki, and it's located on Ferry Street in Niagara Falls. You won't be disappointed!

  7. I love Joe Feta's. I think you should give it another try. Next time, try their dessert. The baklava with a scoop of ice cream is delicious! Every restaurant has 'off' moments once in awhile. Perhaps that's what happened with your experience.

  8. What a great review. I have been there a few times and feel the exact same way. I worked at a traditional greek restaurants for 5 years and always found this place be mediocre. The one I have been dying to try is Koutouki in Niagara Falls. I've heard great things, let hope it doesn't disappoint. Keep up the amazing reviews, they always make me hungry.

  9. I admit that I am not an adventurous eater and I applaud you in trying all these different cultures. If I was to try new foods, I think I would like Greek. I will think about this restaurant, next time I am feeling adventurous. Hopefully, its not an off day and in the summer so it is warmer. Thanks Brayden.

  10. I'll admit, I'm not the most adventurous eater, but having been here before, I'd say this is a pretty accurate summary.

Great stuff, keep the reviews coming.

  11. mmmm Greek food is by far my favourite type of food! That is such a let down that this place didn't meet your expectations! I have not been there before, but being a fan of Greek food I would for sure give it a try. (Lexa)
